Since 1999 Barbara Friedrich has been editor-in-chief of two Jahreszeiten Publishing titles: A&W Architektur & Wohnen and COUNTRY. After completing her studies of communication science and philosophy, her career as a journalist took her through a number of editorial offices, including those of Bunte, Ambiente, Vogue, Männer Vogue, Architektur & Wohnen, Ambiente and ElleDecoration. She became acting editor-in-chief of the latter in 1991. From 1993 to 1999 Friedrich was editor-in-chief of Zuhause Wohnen.
